The George Hotel review

The George Hotel review

The George Hotel is an exclusive high-end hotel that provides personalised service to its guests. It is located in a safe environment; a choice area of Lagos. The hotel caters for a variety of diners including vegetarians. It is the ideal hotel for business travellers who seek privacy, serenity and exclusivity. This hotel is highly highly recommended.

Myself and Oto were invited to spend the weekend at The George, themed the Millionaires Experience, and we were met with world class service. Prior to this weekend where we had the opportunity of staying at the two bedroom penthouse suite, I always visited the hotel to have lunch with my colleagues and in some cases, went for drinks with a friend on Friday nights. The hotel oozes of luxury but every penny spent either on accommodation or the food appears to be worth it.

Home is where you are most comfortable, right? The George is home!. The ambience is brilliant but more than the ambience, service, style and comfort is its people. We were welcomed with a warm smile at the reception, though not with a glass of wine!. As always, I was in awe of the interior decor, more specifically, the art display. The George has some of the finest pieces of arts that depict ‘The Renaissance’ (a period in European history) from renowned artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo etc.

We had fine dining at The George and I was most impressed with Chef Micheal, who came/went around to introduce himself and find out if the guests were satisfied with their meals.  Such level of dedication from the staff is enhanced with the leadership of the General Manager, Mr Gordon Gorman. I salute his passion and level of experience. I constantly watched him ensure that his guests were comfortable and satisfied with the service.

Of a truth, I have experienced personalised service in hospitality. The hotel is topnotch and quite private; It is most appropriate for business travellers. I have always felt special there and this weekend was no exception.

We will be returning at every chance we get.

Fine Dining

The George’s signature fine dining restaurant called da vinci serves a variety of European and African cuisines.  On the first day of our stay, I indulged myself in the African cuisine for lunch and we were treated to a French cuisine at night. Chef Micheal delivered exceptionally.

The next day, we were treated to a fine dining experience. We were served a 4-course meal with a brilliant selection of good wine, jazz music and enjoyed breathtaking views of the pool area from the restaurant.

The intimate setting caters for guests who seek privacy, exclusivity and an elegant bespoke fine dining experience.

Swimming Pool

The design of the pool is so classy. The poolside, which I love, is perfect for relaxation, catching up with friends, and finally swimming.

I was unable to use the swimming pool because it felt like everyone was watching. lol

Final thoughts

My highlight was most definitely the food (especially the hors-d’oeuvre finger food) and the great company. It is no doubt expensive and exclusive but the service appears to match the price.

Lest I forget, all the rooms have an amazing view. On the left, you get a bird eye view of the city and on the right, you have a view of the swimming pool.
