National children's park and zoo was one of the six places we explored with Globe Jaunters.
The park is located behind the Presidential Villa and accessing it is fairly easy and straight forward.
It was quite a pleasant surprise to see a clean looking zoo with lots of animals. Sincerely after visiting that Port Harcourt zoo, my appetite to ever enter a zoo vanished. Thank goodness, the national zoo has restored some level of confidence in visiting zoos in Nigeria again.
The National zoo is a perfect place for a day trip with kids. I saw a number of animals including crocodiles, cubs, monkeys, ostriches, parrots, tortoises, Asides from the animals, there is a massive playground and engaging activities for kids.
The Lake was my highlight of our visit. Though disappointed that the lake itself is not been utilised, the views calmed my worries.
Admission into the park requires a N500 fee (if memory serves me right). Please do drop a comment if you know the actual entrance fee, for kids and adults.

The natural environment, garnished with fresh breeze was definitely worth exploring. The zoo is an ideal place for picnics. The kids can play at the playground, while the adults relax at the bar beside Pedam Lake
