Hi there!

I'm Margaret, a female traveller from Nigeria, and welcome to my personal blog , TheAjalaBug.com.

Here, I document my adventures in travel and life experiences generally. Hope you get inspired!

Dubai Mall | A world of experience on its Own

Dubai Mall | A world of experience on its Own

As you all must have noticed, shopping is not a thing for me whenever I’m on vacation. Long story short, I was told that Dubai Mall was dreamland and when I discovered that it was only a stone-throw from my hotel, I decided to visit. Boyyyyy…..I was blown away. I mean, the mall would be anyone’s delight. You can easily spend the whole day there. People have described it as ‘‘Heaven on Earth’’, ‘‘Adventure land’’, ‘‘Living entertainment centre’’ etc.

Sincerely not until I got back from my trip did I realize that Dubai Mall is one of the World’s largest mall. With that much consumerism in one place, it is sure living up to the title.

The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall

The Mall has a lot of shops, restaurants, cafes, galleries, and fun places. Infact there were chains of stores that I thought could only be seen in America but there they were in Dubai Mall. The food court was so massive that I was confused as to what to eat. I eventually landed at the Indian section. lol

There’s an ice skating, an underground zoo and aquarium, an unusual waterfall and so much more. So many activities to keep you wondering around all day plus the decors in each shop just draws you in. I kept wondering to myself if it was a requirement to own a store in the mall. Just maybe!.

For the first time, the word ‘mall’ meant so much more to me than just shopping! It was a whole experience. Besides eating an Indian cuisine and paying for activities, in all my wondering around, I didn’t buy one item.

SIGHTSEEING TOUR OF THE DUBAI MALL

  1. Dinosaur Skeleton aka Dubai Dino

Okay, I must admit, I went to Dubai with an open mind and unusually didn’t research much about the place. I was stunned to see an actual dinosaur skeleton hanging out in the Atrium. Instagram failed to bring this picture to my attention or am I following the wrong accounts. lol

2. The Waterfall

Someone said ‘‘If you don’t get up to anything in the mall, ensure you take a picture at the waterfall, else you were never there’’. The waterfall is far more massive and beautiful physically than any Instagram picture I have seen. The human figures diving inside the water was so creative.

‘‘The combination of natural features and crafted art makes for an interesting effect as you stare up the creation’’.

3. Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo

When people talk about Dubai been a man-made and artificial place, they shouldn’t forget to say it is also awe-inspiring. The Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is mesmerizing and filled with so many delights to leave you spellbound. I was like a kid just gazing everywhere in the marine world. These are the little things that helps a child during the formative years; the experience and practical knowledge. I fear for the average Nigerian child. Anyways back to my travel story.

5. Dubai Ice Skating Rink

Every where I turned to left me in my feelings. The Ice rink left me wondering what other surprises Dubai had in store. For a country with high ambient temperatures, they found a way to create all the desired fun. The ice skating rink is a good place to chill from the burning dessert heat. This is one of the many unique things the mall has to offer.

4. Food Court

So so so many varieties at the food court. We felt like Indian cuisine and we got just that by ordering naan, chicken Tikka Masala etc.

5. Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa which is said to be one of the tallest buildings in the world is located at the back of the Dubai Mall. I stood at the The Observation Deck which is quite popular to see the view of the city. Ha! I couldn’t get enough oo. What manner of vision is this?!

After walking endlessly around the mall, I was too tired to wait for the fountain show/display and the lights on the Burj building which typically starts at 6:45pm.

How could I forget to mention…..I have never seen so many people in a mall and at a fountain. The crowd was massive.

Learning Point

So, as you may as noticed, most of the buildings in Dubai have ‘Emaar’ boldly written on them. My inquisitiveness made me to ask and I was told that there were two major construction companies that built most of the mind-blowing structures in Dubai and one of them is Emaar properties. Emaar happens to have built both Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, the world's tallest building and world's largest mall respectively. Perhaps customary or not, they have their names visibility stamped on the buildings.

6. Other picturesque of the Dubai Mall

I was filed with awe by the picturesque of every shop at the Mall; everywhere was so clean and beautiful. It almost looks photo-shopped. Amazing!!!.

FINAL THOUGHTS ON DUBAI MALL

My post says it all….. Dubai Mall is a must visit. Should you have 24 hours or less in Dubai, I would recommend a visit to the mall because there is so much you can do, all in one place. From exploring the largest mall, to seeing the tallest building in the world, and experiencing the aquatic world which is one of the largest suspended aquarium tanks in the world. Talk about a world of experience.

Thank you for always reading. I hope you learnt a thing or two. Please always feel free to share you thoughts and/or observations in the comment section.

Until my next adventure, be kind to one another.

Margaret.
