Beaches in Dakar | Senegal travel (2/4)

Beaches in Dakar | Senegal travel (2/4)

Senegal, more specifically Dakar, offers numerous amazing beaches. The hospitality is top-notch and hence, a tourist destination.

Before I delve into my Senegal Travel story about hopping around the beaches, let me tell you some reasons why you should consider visiting Dakar, the capital and largest city of Senegal.

  • There are numerous beaches (my pictures will convince you!.)

  • A vibrant capital and the night life is amazing

  • Tranquil environment and a number of islands to relax on

  • An angler's paradise with the stretch of rivers

  • Friendly and helpful locals as long as you have cash in your pocket :) (they don't joke with money). Nothing for cheap or free in Dakar. Nothing!.

  • Ease of travel as there are direct flights out of Lagos to Dakar

  • Lovely street arts to draw you into the culture of the people

  • Delicious cuisine

  • A lot of history and tourist attractions

Like I earlier mentioned, this post will be focused on beaches in Dakar, a place I now call the paradise for surfers and holiday makers!.

Β

1. La Madrague-Surf Beach Sea

The beach is located in front of the Ngor Beach and located near the Almadies Golf Course. It is so clean and serene. I found a number of foreigners on the beach and had a nice time chatting away.

2. Plague du Virage

The beach is a long stretch of sand and visited by Senegalese and Europeans from nearby residential areas. It is also a popular surfing spot and bodyboarding.

3. Marina Bay

This is my favourite place in Dakar. I absolutely love Marina Bay which has a pool and a beach. The view is amazing and the food though pricey was delicious. They also have parties on weekend

4. DES ALMADIES

Pointe des Almadies is the westernmost point on the continent of Africa. Almadies is the wealthy part of Dakar and the security is tight. This part of the town is home to the US Embassy and Kind Fadh Palace.

5. LAGON 1

Lagon 1 is breathtaking with an excellent ocean view. It is located by the ocean near the city and the ocean breeze is refreshing. It wasn't crowded when I visited though I learnt it can be very rowdy. The menu is in French and English.

6. Le Ngor Beach

Ngor Island is a paradise for surfers and a popular retreat for tourists. This is not difficult to understand as I walked around the quiet roads, enjoying the floral beauty and courtyards.

Final words on the Best Beaches in Dakar

Dakar is surrounded by the dazzling Atlantic coastline. As you know, there is sun in abundance, hence an attractive destination for all. If nothing else, visit the beaches. It is very therapeutic!.
