Starwood | Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort (Marriott)
Le Meridien is a luxury hotel tucked far away in Akwa Ibom. The hotel is everything, well, in the Nigeria sense of it. Amazing views, good food and a massive space. It's an all-in-one getaway resort. The only thing missing is a cinema :)
I stayed at the Le Meridien Resort in Uyo for a night on my trip to Akwa Ibom State. Read about the trip here
For the records, the resort I lodged at was Le Meridien and not Ibom hotel and golf resort. lol. Okay for those who don't know, Starwood left Nigeria and the new owners have renamed/rebranded the hotel. Hopefully the standard improves :)
Back to my story....On arrival at the hotel, the standard rooms which are usually on the ground floor were fully occupied. I was sad but mostly happy. Who likes to stay on the ground floor in a hotel?! Definitely not me. Quickly, I expressed my displeasure about it to the manager and in no time, my room was upgraded. The room happened to be on the second floor with an amazing view of the pool and beautiful palm trees. My first impression of the resort left a good taste in my mouth.
MY HIGHLIGHTS AT LE MERIDIEN RESORT
The standard room I stayed in had a beautiful view, facing the massive pool. It was quiet and spacious; the bed and pillows were extremely soft and comfortable.
The manager was very nice and courteous, same with the staff.
The wonderful golf course
The swimming pool and beach hut
Amazing food with loads of options
Le Meridien is the perfect resort for a getaway, retreat and wedding reception.
The internet wasn't fast outside the rooms
There was no one available to assist me around the resort
In all my travels in Nigeria, I have never seen a fridge so stocked like that of Le Meridien. It is a trap though. The price is like 5 times the original price. lol
